From The Rocks to the Slow Lane: The Creative Minds Behind Harvest Lane Food

For years, Zoie and Mike De Tullio helped build global brands like Apple, Canva, and R.M.Williams including working together at Saatchi & Saatchi in Sydney. But after endless late nights running on empty, they craved a slower, more considered approach to nourishment.

The Harvest Lane story actually began well before the business itself. Zoie and Mike were married in Byron Bay to Neil Young’s Harvest Moon — a moment that would later inspire the Harvest Lane name.

From there came time living in Wellington, New Zealand, where they experienced a thriving farm-to-table culture, beautiful fresh produce and an appreciation for food made close to home. It was a slower, more considered approach to food that stayed with them.

So, after years spent building brands for other people, they decided to build something of their own.

The result was Harvest Lane Food, a family-owned food business based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, built around a simple idea: good food should slow you down in the best possible way.

Life in the Slow Lane

In advertising, everything needs to happen yesterday. At Harvest Lane Food, the philosophy is almost exactly the opposite.

Slow made. Small batch. Seriously good.

Their meals, sauces and pantry favourites are made slowly, with generous flavour and honest ingredients.

Instead of mass-produced, factory-line cooking, Harvest Lane takes many of the same approaches you might use in a home kitchen, just on a larger scale.

Their signature 8hr Ragu a la Bolognese is cooked low and slow, their NYC Italian Meatballs are hand-rolled and oven-baked before being finished in sugo, while their Twice-Baked Butter Chicken starts with chicken thighs marinated overnight before being seared and baked in a rich tomato, cream and turmeric sauce.

It's all built around a belief that when it comes to good food, some things simply shouldn't be rushed.

Fuelling the Mind, Body and Mood

We often think of food purely as fuel, but what we eat can play an important role in how we feel, how we move and how we show up in everyday life.

As former agency creatives, Zoie and Mike know firsthand what it feels like to run on empty. For them, wellbeing isn't about perfection or restriction; it's about nourishment, balance and making good choices easier.

The Mind: Choosing satisfying meals made with quality, recognisable ingredients can make eating well feel less complicated, particularly when time and energy are in short supply. And taking the time to sit down and enjoy a meal provides something equally valuable: a moment to switch off and reset.

The Body: An active life needs proper nourishment. Harvest Lane is about real, satisfying food made with honest ingredients — designed to fit into everyday life, whether that involves a Pilates class, school run, long day at work, or all three.

The Mood: Good food brings joy, creates comfort and gives us a reason to stop. When dinner is already taken care of, it also gives you something increasingly valuable: time. Time to move, time for family, time for yourself — or simply time to sit around the table a little longer.

Because looking after yourself isn't always about doing more. Sometimes it's about creating a little more space for the things that make you feel good.

Bringing the Restaurant Experience Home

Harvest Lane was born from the belief that convenience shouldn't have to mean compromise.

From Slow Cooked Beef Stroganoff and 8hr Ragu a la Bolognese to aromatic curries and hand-rolled meatballs, the meals are handcrafted in small batches, snap frozen and ready for the freezer.

They're made for real life: busy days, full tables, quiet nights, unexpected guests and those evenings when having dinner already taken care of feels like a small luxury.

Because convenience doesn't necessarily have to mean eating faster. Sometimes it gives you the time to do the opposite.

To sit down. Talk. Spend a little longer around the table.

Harvest Lane makes good food slowly, so you can make good moments last.
